Re: What are yall planting?
We planted 4 fields with an 8 in 1 wms seed from the co-op. We'll be planting a few more this weekend. Not really sure what we'll be planting. Probably some more 8 in 1. Also have a field with nothing but soybeans that was planted in June. It's getting out of hand but has done very well. Hoping the deer have it mowed back a little when I get back this weekend.

I just have two plots I plant, so I go with the latest and greatest at the co-op, works for me.

Re: What are yall planting?
Our soil is not that great on some of our property so we just plant the 5-way mix at the co-op. Always comes up good for us. We usually plant our 2 nice fields in WMS deer magnet or alabama blend.

As long as you got a well drained soil area that doesn't hold water so you can avoid root rot and you want to put out fertilizer and lime as needed to keep the ph right and you can keep the bug infestations away it's a piece of cake [emoji1]

Re: What are yall planting?
It should be ok for forage as long as the ph is right and it isn't planted in soil that holds moisture. It's just way too expensive for me to gamble on. Especially considering we can get 325lbs of WMS Alabama Mix for the price of 50lbs of alfalfa. If the price comes down $80-$100 or more, I'd dang sure jump on it and take the gamble.Tru-Talker wrote:Well damn....as easy that is....I wasted my money on my fields!!sdw wrote:As long as you got a well drained soil area that doesn't hold water so you can avoid root rot and you want to put out fertilizer and lime as needed to keep the ph right and you can keep the bug infestations away it's a piece of cake [emoji1]
Re: What are yall planting?
We bought Tecomate Alfa Trophy Mix for $136 a bag and it plants 2.5 acres. Gonna mix a few pounds in a few of our fields and see which field grows the best with it. We talked with some guys from another club and they highly recommended it in sandy, drained soil. As for ph, everyone needs to lime their fields and get ph up to at least 6.5 or more because as we all know the ph in the south is generally to low. Better to spend money on lime than applying to much or wrong fertilizer and further dragging your ph down. Talker- ain't nothing but money, can't take it with ya
