I may try and go for a while either tomorrow morning or afternoon depending on how tired I am when I get off work at 0600. I have everything ready to go either way.

I killed the smallest turkey I have ever shot at Monday . It had a 5" beard and bumps for spurs. I killed him to eat and I refuse to put such a bird in the competition. Sorry for the letdown but he has been good to eat so far I fried one breast . I have the other marinating in Italian dressing cut into larger chunks going on the grill tomorrow and the legs and thighs are awaiting a new recipe. I hope you understand my family eats the fish we catch , the deer we kill , and the Turkey's too. Sorry for the letdown team 5.

Hell. Don't apologize. I would've done the same. A dead turkey is the only kind I'll eat. Lol

If I get a shot at one you can bet a contest is the furthest thing from my mind, ain't nothing better than fried turkey breast. I ain't never tried beards or spurs but I bet they kinda rough. :D :D

Thanks! I saw two more. One was about the same size and the other one was bigger but by the time I got to where they had slipped out of the plot and into a 2 year old clear cut and they would not respond to calls so I just sat down and waited and after about an hour and half three hens came by with him in tow. None of them ever said a word.

Well.... Finally got the chance to hunt for the first time this season yesterday morning. Made a trip over to Bankhead. Got on one bird right at daylight that only gobbled twice, then he must've walked away from me. Walked miles all over the place but never had any luck striking up another bird. Those storms Friday night might have had them a little tight lipped after being whipped around in the tree all night. Headed to Oklahoma in the morning for work for a week. Hopefully get back in town Friday and get a chance to try again next weekend.

I killed this one on 4/11/16 in the rain before I had to go into work. He was strutting in a road between me and my truck as I was walking out. I got to 35 yards and he turned and gave me a shot. The turkeys on our place aren't saying a word.

Finally got a chance to go chase birds today. Been trying to get a long beard on my birthday for the last 6 or 7 years, and finally got him today
